On 9th December 1980, Film Critic and Dakota resident Rex Reed explains that the Dakota gates were always closed shut at 11pm. It was widely reported at the time, that John Lennon wanted to go for a meal after leaving the Record Plant studio at 10.30pm. For some reason, John never went for a meal and was on-time for his murder at 10.50pm. A murder that occurred inside the Dakota driveway and out of sight from witnesses. If John did eat out and arrived at his Dakota home after 11pm, his murderer would have been forced to shoot him on a busy 72nd street in full view of dozens of potential witnesses. As it was, no-one saw John Lennon being shot at 10.50pm in a dark and gloomy driveway – including his wife Yoko Ono.
