Former navy intelligence officer Jack Jones (a man who for decades has propped up and reinforced the Lennon murder official narrative) attempts to downplay Perdomo’s highly suspicious request to Chapman.
Look up Classic bands .com for an interview by Gary James with "Investigative reporter" Jack Jones where he constantly takes digs at Fenton Bresler's book on John's assassination. He says "I've had the FBI report "really !!. He is very anti conspiratorial and even says John was making fun of conspiracy theorists with the words FBI and the CIA and the BBC and BB King in the song "Dig a pony". It was actually "Dig it" and how does Matt Busby and Doris Day fit in with that Jack. And now he's a former naval intelligence who saw John Lennon run and collapse on the stairway and Yoko run from behind the vestibule where she was hiding from the shooter 😏.
Hello, David! You mentioned in a podcast on Peter Borenius’ channel that you're beginning to think the best place for a second shooter would be in the left alcove, where the elevator used to be.
Considering the distance between that alcove and the side where John was likely standing, wouldn’t it be difficult—even for someone experienced—to hit such a tight group?
I recently saw some photos (some of which I had never seen before) of the driveway on the night of the assassination, in extremely high quality. They show that there was no blood at all on the driveway.
The possibility of a second shooter escaping from inside the vestibule does seem unlikely, especially considering the resident witnesses from the Dakota. Once again, one person remains highly suspicious...
There is a certain logic to a second shooter being positioned in the left alcove. it was an area only used by Dakota staff and with the water powered elevator door open, Dakota workers in the basement such as Joe Grezik and Victor Cruz, could not operate it and enter the murder scene. A second shooter positioned in the right vestibule/stairway area could have been disturbed by somebody exiting the building via the lobby. Though an inside lookout could have averted that potential problem.
I don't agree with you on the distance from the left side. With John approaching the vestibule and a second shooter being in the left alcove and calling out to John, John's left chest would have been fully exposed and the distance would probably have been less than 10 feet. With a professional assassin using an automatic weapon, I believe it would have been possible for John to have been struck four times around his heart area in a tight grouping, from a shooter standing in that area.
Those images you reference are fairly low-res and it could be argued that there are some signs of staining in some of them, on the right side of the middle floor area, near the vestibule. We also cannot be certain that these images have not been altered or somebody by this point had not brushed or mopped away any pools of blood. In my estimation, it was almost seven minutes after the shooting, before the police arrived. Plenty of time for a clean-up to occur. It was widely reported that Joe Grezik was instructed to mop up blood in the hours after the shooting. Were these images taken after that happened? We cant say for sure. I would certainly like to see some colour high-res photos from the night in question. I don't think that will ever happen.
That’s definitely a good point — only the Dakota staff would have had access to that alcove.
But I still believe it happened inside the vestibule, for a few reasons:
If the shots had been fired at John in the driveway, he would have collapsed almost instantly, leaving at least a small pool of blood on the ground — not considering a possible cleanup.
Removing John from the driveway so quickly would have required a major operation, with someone dragging him almost immediately into the vestibule. We know that Nina Rosen saw the scene just seconds later, and she made no mention of seeing John’s body or a pool of blood.
We could completely rule out what Perdomo allegedly said to Cullen — the idea of the shots pushing John through the vestibule door.
Unless we consider possible editing in the photos, the bullet holes in the glass become even harder to make sense of. Would the second shooter have been firing low, aiming at the bottom part of the glass panels either on purpose or by missing the shots (which, considering the chest-level entry wounds and the holes being near hip-level, seems quite unlikely)? Or are we to assume Chapman missed his shots?
The lead detective certainly agrees with you on the vestibule/stairway angle.
I'm not sure Nina Rosen was on the scene that quickly. Im certain John's body was moved before she got on the scene. No major operation required. Just lift him up under his arms and drag him into the stairway and up the steps. That would have caused a lot of blood to be spread on the clothes of the person that did that though...
The vestibule bullet hoes are still a mystery. They don't easily fit with any narrative. Official or unofficial.
He says, 'I remember seeing Yoko run from where she had been crouching around where John had fallen'...was he there?
